Description
Virtual hosting provides infrastructure and control to IT professionals to host virtual machines, operating systems or applications that are installed on software that acts like computer hardware. Customers have the same experience on a virtual machine as they do using an actual machine.
Cost
Beginning July 1, 2015 the new rates for hosting virtual machines with Technology Services will be as follows:
- 1 vCPU = $3.08 / month
- 1 GB of RAM = $1.17 / GB / Month
- 1 GB of Fast Storage = $0.048 / GB / Month
- 1 GB of Bulk Storage = $0.019 / GB / Month

By utilizing modern virtualization technology, Technology Services can offer virtual machine hosting for substantially less than the cost of a dedicated server. Due to the architecture of the VMware cluster and storage, service downtime is minimized or eliminated in most failure scenarios.
