Every research project requires data of some kind. Data resource needs often differ by discipline, department, and individual research project. The University of Illinois strives to meet these various needs through investment in infrastructure, tools, and services.

The DMPTool is a free online wizard that supports the creation of data management plans (DMPs) for a variety of funding agencies, using templates customized to each funding agency's requirements. The University of Illinois is an affiliated institution, so students and faculty can log in to use a version of the tool that is customized for our institution.

Some units provide student help on analytical projects. CITL’s Data Analytics Service provides hands-on consultation support.  The Social Research and Technology Innovation Laboratory pairs student employees with social media analytics projects. Publish and Preserve

Publishing and preserving completed research data encourage reproducibility and are requirements of many funding organizations.

Illinois Data Bank

The Illinois Data Bank is a free, self-serve publishing platform that centralizes, preserves, and provides persistent and reliable access to Illinois research data. The Illinois Data Bank only accepts data that are appropriate to make public. Deposited data sets are preserved for a minimum of 5 years.

Registry of Research Data Repositories is a global registry of research data repositories that covers research data repositories from different academic disciplines.
